He is called as Akshay Kumar in Bollywood.Akshay Kumar with his clean cut good looks and a history in martial arts suddenly entered Indian Film Industry out of nowhere. He was offered films because of a successful modeling career. His Greek God looks and excellent martial art skills made him the first choice for Bollywood action movies.
Born in a punjabi middle class family, Akshay studied at Don Bosco School and then Khalsa College. He studied martial arts in Bangkok and worked part time as a Chef for some extra money. Akshay started teaching martial arts in Mumbai where he was encouraged to start a modeling career by a photographer student. After a successful modeling career, he made his Bollywood debut with an unnoticed movie ‘Saugandh’.
His first major success was the 1992 thriller film ‘Khiladi’ after which he did a lot of successful movies of the ‘khiladi’ series, most of them were hits that established Akshay as the biggest action hero in Bollywood. Akshay also got critical acclaim for his role in films like ‘Sangharsh’ and ‘Janwar’.
In 2000, Akshay made a successful transitions form action to comedy with the biggest hit of that year ‘Hera Pheri’ after that he did a series of comic roles and even made a record of 4 back to back hits which has never been done before in the ‘khan’ dominated Industry.

Akshay today stands as one of the biggest star in the industry with the credibility to give a sure shot hit among the producers. He is most remembered for in his roles in movies like ‘Khiladi’ ,’Mohra’ ,’Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’ ,’Sangharsh’, ‘Ajnabee’. ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ ‘Waqt’: The Race Against Time’, ‘Namastey London’, ‘Heyy Babyy ‘, ‘Singh Is Kinng’ and the latest hit ‘Houseful’ his awaited movies are ‘Tees Maar Khan’ and ‘Action Replay’.
Relationship Status:

Akshay at the starting of the innings in Bollywood dated actresses like Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty. After being engaged twice to actress Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of actors Rajesh Khanna andDimple Kapadia, he married her on 17 January 2001. Their son named Aarav was born in September 2002. Akshay and his wife Twinkle are expecting their second child in September 2012.
In 2007, a leading Mumbai tabloid newspaper printed a story saying that Kumar and his wife had fallen out and Kumar had moved out of his home, staying at a hotel instead. On 26 July 2007 the couple sent a legal notice to the tabloid, declaring that the rumour was false. Kumar said: “ The article is a clear representation of careless and irresponsible journalism. The freedom of press comes with responsibilities, which seems to have been put aside to give way to shock value journalism.”An FIR was registered by the Vakola Police on April 2009 against Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna under Section 294 of the Indian Penal Code for an act during the Lakme Fashion Week in which Khanna unbuttoned the jeans of Kumar.

About Akshay Kumar:

Akshay stays in shape with a combination of kickboxing, basketball, swimming, parkour and other sports, as well as working out.In 2008, the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Law on Kumar in recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema.
2009 - He was awarded the highest Japanese honour of ‘Katana’ and a sixth degree Black Belt in Kuyukai Gojuryu Karate
2008 - Named "Sexiest Man Alive" by People (India) magazine

Akshay won his first ever Filmfare award for Best villain in the film ‘Ajnabee’ and till date has never won an award for Best Actor.
In 200 Akshay shed is action hero image and tried his luck in comedy films. Fortunately it worked for him and he gave hits like Hera Pheri, Aawara, Pagal, Deewana, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag and many more.
2006 was considered as the most successful year for Akshay Kumar. He delivered back to back hit films like Namastey London (2006), Heyy Baby (2006) and Welcome (2007).
Unfortunately after 2007, his career went for a toss. All his big budget films like Chandni Chowk To China, Blue, De Dana Dan didn't work at the box office. His recently released film Tees Maar Khan proved to be a disaster. After making all the fame in Bollywood he went on to host Khatron Ke Khiladi in Colors. His presence in the show indeed raised the TRP's of the channel. Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna also owns a production company called Hari Om Entertainment Co. He is presently filming for Housefull 2 in London.

Controversy:

Akshay Kumar was in controversy when his wife Twinkle unbuttoned the top button of his jeans in Lakme Fashion Week. Apparently, Kumar, who walked the ramp to promote Levi's 'unbuttoned' line of jeans, had walked up to his wife Twinkle and had top button of his jeans opened by her. Social worker Anil Nair has filed the complaint, in which he claimed to have been 'offended' by Kumar's act.
