The International Indian Film Academy Awards, also known as the IIFA Awards are presented annually by the International Indian Film Academy to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in Bollywood, the Hindi language film industry.This pioneering effort is spearheaded by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., India's first and premier event management and entertainment agency.Started in 2000, IIFA or International Indian Film Academy Awards promotes Indian cinema at an international level. The promotion of Indian cinema globally has benefited its fans across the world. Such an endeavor has also enabled India to showcase its talent to the rest of the world. These awards honour films from the previous calendar year. Amitabh Bachchan has been the Brand Ambassador of the IIFA until 2010 where he resigned from the post due to much controversy about holding that year's ceremony in Sri Lanka, and appointed Salman Khan. In 2009, five special awards were introduced: Star of the decade (male and female), Movie of the decade, Music of the decade, and Director of the decade.
The first IIFA awards were held at Millennium Dome, London in 2000. Since then it has been held at different venues, such as, Sun City (2001), Malaysia (2002), Johannesburg (2003), Singapore (2004), Amsterdam, Netherlands (2005), Dubai (2006) and Yorkshire (2007). In 2008 IIFA was organized at Bangkok, Thailand (2008. On its journey of celebrating Indian Cinema across the world, IIFA spreads the magic of Indian cinema to various exotic locales around the world. Starting with the Millennium Dome, London, IIFA has travelled through Sun City, Malaysia, Johannesburg, Singapore, Amsterdam, Dubai, Yorkshire, Thailand, Macau, Colombo and Toronto.

The Indian film industry went to the polls, voting for its peer for the first time ever. A Global audience participated in the polling. The response was overwhelming.
A host of world artists bedazzled the Millenium Dome with their presence and performances. Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie, Thora Birch, Kylie Minogue, Finley Quaye, Miranda Richardson, Sussanah York, Talvin Singh, Ashok Amritraj amongst many other.Millions across the world watched the IIFA Awards 2000 LIVE telecast. Held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the Videocon IIFA Weekend saw a host of film royalty fly down to Singapore to attend what is the industry's largest celebration of Indian Cinema. The thirteenth year of the Jaypee IIFA Awards surpassed expectations with a spectacular show. Celebrating a 100 glorious years of Indian Cinema and felicitating the best of 2011, the Jaypee IIFA Awards 2012, celebrated the very best of the Indian film fraternity.
